Camillus native Frank DiPino played baseball at West Genesee High School and became an outstanding scholastic hurler. One of his career highlights was a no-hitter against Fayetteville-Manlius although DiPino lost the game, 1-0.

From 1974 to 1977, the left-handed DiPino pitched for the Junior Chiefs in Syracuse and spent a year at St. Leo College in Florida. In 1977, he signed as a free agent with the Milwaukee Brewers. DiPino spent the next few seasons in the minors with stops in Newark, Burlington, Stockton, Holyoke (where he pitched and won a no-hitter), Vancouver, and finally Milwaukee.

In 1982, DiPino was traded to Houston and became a highly-regarded middle relief pitcher. DiPino led the Astros in saves (20) in 1983 and again in 1984 with 14. He also played for the Cubs in 1986 and the Cardinals in 1989. In his first year as a Cardinal, he strung together nine consecutive wins and sported a 2.45 ERA. He stayed with St. Louis until 1993 then signed with the Kansas City Royals.

DiPino pitched in 514 big league games and fashioned a career record of 35-38 with 56 saves, 515 strikeouts and a respectable 3.83 ERA.

1971-1974: All-star pitcher at West Genesee

1981: Made Major League debut with the Milwaukee Brewers

1982: Traded to the Houston Astros

1989: Went 9-0 with the St. Louis Cardinals

2002: Inducted into the Syracuse Chiefs Baseball Wall of Fame
