Nicknamed “The Coach”, Arnie Burdick spent nearly 30 years in the newspaper business. Burdick’s work ethic as a reporter and editor with the Syracuse Herald-Journal earned him the respect of his colleagues as well as his readers.

Burdick started his sports writing career as a student journalist at Nottingham High School. He went to Syracuse University where he played lacrosse and worked in the sports information department. He later became the sports editor of Syracuse’s evening paper, the Herald-Journal, and the Sunday Herald American.
