Bill Reddy, a familiar figure in press boxes for more than 40 years, was a respected newspaper reporter and editor with The Post-Standard. Reddy penned a popular sports column called “Keeping Posted” where he expressed his first-person opinions and sometimes criticisms in a colorful and constructive way.

Reddy’s writing career encompassed many teams and sports. He covered Syracuse University football’s Orange Bowl appearances and the 1959 national championship. He also documented Carmen Basilio's boxing championships, the Syracuse Nationals, SU basketball and the Syracuse Chiefs from 1934 to 1973.

A true sports enthusiast, Reddy spent 44 years at the newspaper included 37 years as the sports editor of The Post-Standard. He wrote more than 100,000 stories, columns and articles during his career. Not only did he write about sports, Reddy was an avid bowler, golfer and tennis player.

1931: Graduated Syracuse University

1929-1934: Post-Standard sports reporter

1934: Named Sports Editor of The Post-Standard; devoted the rest of his life to this job

1930-1973: Covered all sports in Syracuse, including pro hockey, Syracuse University sports, Syracuse Chiefs, Syracuse Nats and Carmen Basilio, Billy Backus and Babe Risko professional fights
