Enshrined: 2012

When local lacrosse aficionados discuss this town’s best scholastic products to play collegiately for Syracuse, might Brad Kotz be first on their list?

After all, Jim Brown came here from Long Island.  And the Gait brothers were from far-off western Canada.

As a scholastic senior, Brad was an All-American, Most Valuable Player and captain of West Genesee’s 1981 New York State champions.

At SU (Class of 1985, BS Biology), he was a three-time first team All-American, three times selected as the top midfielder in Division I.  Brad was MVP in the Orangemen’s 1983 NCAA championship game victory,(his 5 second half goals keyed a rally from down 7 in the third period  as SU beat Johns Hopkins 17-16) and won the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s Enners Award as that year’s top Division I player.

He captained SU’s 1984 and ’85 teams, both NCAA finalists.  Brad was selected to the NCAA Silver Anniversary team.  And he played in the ’85 North-South game.

During his SU career, Brad scored 129 goals, had 205 points.

Athletically, he went on to win Gold Medals with the United States teams in the 1986 and ’90 World Games.  Not only was he a member of Philadelphia’s MILL World Indoor champs in 1989 and ’90, but also title game MVP in ’90.

Brad was a 2001 National Lacrosse Hall of Fame inductee.

Academically, he earned his MBA in 1989 from Penn’s prestigious Wharton School.

He is the co-founder of Seneca Properties.  Brad lives in Cabin John, Md.
