Walter Patulski

  • 1950: Born in Syracuse, grew up in Liverpool, New York
  • 1965- 1968: Christian Brothers Academy - starred in football and basketball - first team. All - City both sports.
  • 1968: High School All-American fullback received over 60 scholarship offers to play football
  • 1968 -1970: Notre Dame University
  • 1972 : A unanimous All-America defensive end at Notre Dam
  • Finished ninth in 1971 Heisman Trophy voting as unanimous All-American.
  • Three-year starter at left defensive end and a '71 Irish co-captain .
  • 1971: United Press International Lineman of the Year as well as the first Lombardi Trophy recipient as the nation’s outstanding lineman .
  • Started every game in his collegiate career, racking up 186 tackles, 40 for minus-241 yards; broke up 10 passes; recovered five fumbles and returned one blocked punt 12 yards .
  • Played in 1972 College All-Star and Hula Bowl games .
  • 1972: First round draft pick in 1972 by Buffalo as first overall selection
  • 1972-1975: Outstanding lineman for the Buffalo Bills
  • 1976 : Sat out season with knee injury as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals
  • 1977: Completed his football career with St. Louis Cardinal, played in 70 career games.
  • 1980: Appointed later elected, Commissioner of Education, Syracuse School District
  • 1990-1991: Helped start Little League Baseball in Poland
  • Patulski is currently working in Syracuse as the branch manager at RBC Dain Rauscher Inc., a member of the New York Stock Exchange and other major securities exchanges.
