  • Born in Italy, he came to the United States at age 10.
  • 1955: Inducted into Syracuse Bowling Hall of Fame.
  • 1956: Won Champion of Champions Bowling Tournamnet.
  • 1957: Won Peterson Classic.
  • 1961: Won Chester Twin Classic and Vargo Classic.
  • Five time winner of Van Wie doubles Tournament
  • 1984: Won Amateur Bowlers Association
  • 1986: Inducted into New York State Bowlers Hall of Fame.
  • 1995: Inducted into the United State Bowling Congress Hall of Fame.
  • Griffo competed in his 60th ABC Tournament in 1996 one year after his induction to the ABC Hall of Fame. The next day, he became only the fourth player in Tournament history to surpass 100,000 pins. The 5'2" righthander carried the highest average in Syracuse for 30 years.
  • Nationally, he was winner of the Bowling Writers Association of America's 1985 Rip Van Winkle Award for accomplishments 20 or more years previous.
  • USBC Opens: 9th in Career Pinfall leaders with 102,483 pins.
  • Griffo has bowled four sanctioned 300 games.
  • He worked for New Process Gear and also was the owner of Imperial Lanes in East Syracuse.
  • Greg died July 20,2006 in Syracuse.
