The second leading scorer in the history of St. Bonaventure Basketball, Earl Belcher is one of only four school players to have scored 2,000 points or more. From 1977 81, Earl amassed 2,077 points, trailing only Greg Sanders who totaled 2,238. Belchers impressive statistics place him ahead of Bob Lanier, Tom Stith, and Essie Hollis. An All-City player at C.B.A., Earl averaged 20 points per game for his entire four year Bonnies career. He is the third all-time career leading free throw percentage leader as well, making 83.1% of his attempts. Earl was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Year his senior year after being named to the first team the year before. He led the Atlantic 10 in scoring both his junior and senior seasons. Twice his teams made it to the post-season; the NCAA tournament in 1978, and the NIT in 1979. He was drafted in the third round of the 1981 NBA draft by the San Antonio Spurs. Earl was inducted into the St. Bonaventure Sports Hall of Fame in 1991 and was named to St. Bonaventures all time basketball team in 1995.
